Bunkie Life – Terms & Conditions

The Bunkie Life Agreement outlines the terms and conditions governing the purchase, delivery, installation, and maintenance of Bunkie Life products. By submitting a deposit, signing an order agreement, or accepting delivery, the Client acknowledges they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions. The client also accepts their responsibilities regarding permits, payments, site preparation, and adherence to maintenance guidelines. Bunkie Life commits to delivering high-quality products and transparent communication while specifying warranty limitations and liability boundaries to ensure mutual understanding.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bunkie Life’s total liability arising out of or related to this Agreement shall not exceed the total amount paid by the Client for the product giving rise to the claim.

  1. Bunkie Kits
All Bunkie Kits include door, windows, all wall boards, hardware, floor boards, roof boards, and pressure-treated floor sleepers.  Clients are advised to budget for these additional materials as they are necessary for the structure’s longevity and functionality:
  2. a) A level foundation made from deck blocks, cinder blocks, sonotubes, helical piles, concrete pad, or other suitable material. Additional pressure-treated beams or joists (model-dependent) are not included.
    b) Finish roofing material (shingles or metal)
    c) Stain and Sealant are required but not included.

Weather Damage Disclaimer: Bunkie Life is not liable for any damage caused by weather events or environmental conditions (including but not limited to wind, snow, rain, flooding, or temperature extremes) occurring after the bunkie has been constructed. The client is responsible for ensuring proper maintenance, sealing, site preparation, and protection suitable for local climate conditions. Bunkie Life is not responsible for damage resulting from inadequate protection, drainage, or maintenance.

Bunkie Life reserves the right to make small changes, upgrades, and improvements to models as it deems necessary.

  1. Permits
The Client agrees to pursue all necessary permits (if applicable) and is solely responsible for ensuring compliance with local rules, regulations, codes, and bylaws. Bunkie Life assumes no liability for non-compliance.  Any guidance or materials provided by Bunkie Life related to permits are for general informational purposes only and do not constitute legal or engineering advice.
  2. Alterations & Modifications
Any alterations, modifications, or additions to a kit’s standard design must be approved by a certified engineer to ensure safety and compliance. Failure to do so will void any warranties.
  3. Payment
Payment can be made via cash, money transfer, direct bank transfer, Bitcoin, or credit card. Credit card transactions incur a 3.5% fee for CAD payments and a 2.9% fee for USD payments. A deposit is required to place an order into production. Final payment is due 7 days before delivery for Ontario clients and before shipping for destinations outside Ontario.
  4. Delivery
Delivery is completed by a third-party carrier. All objects that could be in the way of the truck/offloading equipment must be moved before delivery. The varying weather and firmness of the ground can complicate delivery; therefore, the site must be prepared accordingly. Bunkie Life is not liable for damages on delivery, including property, grass, or yard damage. Bunkie Life reserves the right to delay delivery based on supply chain issues and production. If you cannot accept your bunkie delivery within the calendar year you indicated when placing your order, the bunkie cost may need to be adjusted to accommodate lumber pricing at the time.

5.1 Site Preparation:
Clients are responsible for ensuring that the delivery site meets the following requirements:

  1. a) A minimum road width and clearance height suitable for large trucks and offloading equipment.
    b) Ground firmness to support heavy equipment and prevent damage.

5.2 Notification of Delays:

In the event of a delay caused by force majeure events or supply chain disruptions, clients will be notified promptly via email or phone. Clients are expected to respond within 48 hours to reschedule delivery if necessary.

5.3 Consequential Damages:
Bunkie Life is not responsible for any consequential charges due to delays, including but not limited to hotel rooms, mileage, travel expenses, rental equipment, contractor fees, lost time, and wages.

5.4 Delays
If a delivery is delayed by the client with less than 7 days notice of the mutually agreed-upon and booked delivery date, the delivery cost will be forfeited unless a replacement booking is secured.

5.5 Shipping Promotions
Occasionally, Bunkie Life, at its sole discretion, may offer a shipping promotion. Promotions cannot be combined with any other offer unless otherwise indicated in the promotion. The following terms apply to any shipping promotions. Timeline flexibility is required for grouping deliveries.
If the client delays delivery by less than 7 days from the confirmed loading date, Bunkie Life reserves the right to charge a delivery rescheduling fee. If the client cancels or requests a refund by less than 7 days before the confirmed loading date, Bunkie Life reserves the right to deduct the original shipping cost from the refund. If no shipping amount is listed on the invoice, the cost will be deemed to not exceed $1,500 USD or CAD, depending on the region.

5.6 Freight Forwarders
Use of a third-party freight forwarder or delivery service outside of Bunkie Life’s approved shipping locations will void any product warranty and release Bunkie Life from all liability related to damage, loss, or defects incurred during or after transport. Bunkie Life build support is available – fees will apply for replacements.

  1. Refund Policy
In-Season Refunds (January to August): Refunds are available within 14 days of deposit payment, less any bank or credit card fees.

Off-Season Refunds (September to December): Refunds are available within 7 days of deposit payment, less applicable fees.

Outside the specified refund windows, refunds are contingent on Bunkie Life selling the product(s) to a new client (“Sell Through” process). Clients may expedite this process by accepting a 15% cancellation fee in addition to any applicable transaction fees. Custom orders and discontinued models are subject to specific refund restrictions as outlined. Bunkie Life reserves the right to cancel any order at any time and provide full refund. If delivery has taken place, we cannot offer a refund or return. If your bunkie’s delivery process (as defined below) has begun, refunds are no longer available.

The delivery process is deemed to have begun once the client has confirmed the loading/delivery date and the order is staged for shipping.

Bunkie Life offers a 5-Year Repair or Replace Warranty for hardware in all Bunkie Life kits. Clients will contact Bunkie Life at buildsupport@bunkielife.com with photos and videos of the issue with the hardware for troubleshooting before replacement.

Damage caused by environmental factors is not included.

  1. Wood Expectations & Behavior
Wood is a natural material and may respond to environmental conditions. Even though our components are made of high quality wood product, it may have minor imperfections such as knots, splinters, warps, bows, cupping or a possibility of occasional sap drips. Wood may expand, contract or shift due to factors such as humidity, temperature changes, exposure to direct sunlight or improper storage or installation. This applies to all wooden components including doors and windows. The qualities listed here are considered normal and do not affect structural integrity and are not considered defects in material or workmanship. We strongly recommend that all wood components be properly stained and sealed upon installation.
  2. Delivery Damage and Missing Parts Policy
Any damage or missing parts claims due to delivery must be reported immediately with photos (before and after unpackaging), no more than 30 days from the day of delivery. When accepting delivery with a signature, note any mishandling during offloading on the paperwork to properly document it should there be any concealed damage.Inventory and construction within 30 days of delivery is required.

Bunkie Life reserves the ultimate authority to determine eligibility for a replacement or repair. Extra boards are provided in each kit to help mitigate delays and the need for shipping replacements.
